Thanksgiving

Psalm 100, “Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth. Serve the Lord with gladness and delight; Come before his presence with joyful singing. Know and fully recognize with gratitude that the Lord Himself is God; It is He who has made us, not we ourselves. We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy and lovingkindness are everlasting, His faithfulness to all generations.”

When I was in Christian School so many years ago, we would start the day with singing our memory verses. Psalm 100 we sang a lot and as I read it I could not help, but sing it! What could have been a dreary day soon became a day of joy! God made us to sing, to dance, to be joyful! We have to keep our eyes on Him and not on what is happening around us. Get in the Word of God, sing the Word! Ramah is the spoken Word of God. It is so powerful in our lives. When you utter God’s Word, the ground begins to shake and demons flee! Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God,” Matthew 4:4. In John 6:63 Jesus stated, “The Words I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life.” Literally, His Words bring life to you! You have an area that is difficult for you, look up scripture regarding it, then speak it. Too busy to read the Bible? Try audible Bible on biblegateway.com.

After 9/11/01, my husband reenlisted in the military. He was going to protect his country, his people, his family and nothing was going to stop him. This meant I was left to raise my kids alone. This troubled me as it should, he was putting his own life in danger. The kids asked me if he was going to die? If I said no and he dies that would be awful. I then reassured them that no matter what happens on earth we will meet again in Heaven as we all are assuredly going to die at some point. What point we do not know. He was gone a lot, training & one deployment to Iraq lasted 11 months with no break as he was the first group in and nothing was set up for r & r. I was given Bible CD’s during his bootcamp days and I managed to read along the first time through in two weeks. I played it non-stop in our house for the next three years. My house was a house of joy and peace. Neighbor kids flocked to our house and we started a neighborhood Bible study and kids gave their hearts to the Lord. This was not my ‘doing’, but the power of God’s Word working. Later God’s Word would help save our marriage. Speak the Word of God over your house, your marriage, your children, your life, your health, your unsaved loved ones, and the list is endless! Don’t forget to, “enter His gates with a song of thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, bless and praise His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy and lovingkindness are everlasting, His faithfulness to all generations.” God loves to hear His people, His kids, so sing and pray without ceasing. I talk to Him all the time and I haven’t been disappointed yet! Joy is found in Him & in your thankfulness to Him for His many blessings.
